Careers · Elementary (K–5)

Elementary roles

We started with one question: what would Maria Montessori do today? Our K–5 classroom is based on Montessori, and we add inquiry, real-world projects, executive functioning, creativity, and student leadership. We're looking for people who love Montessori and are open to new approaches.

What you'll do

  • Teach lessons from the curriculum sequence to the whole group, small groups, and individual children.
  • Set up and look after the classroom so materials are ready and children can work on their own.
  • Set up classroom routines that build independence and executive functioning.
  • Help children ask their own research questions and find the answers.
  • Design projects that connect lessons to real-world problems.
  • Keep records of what each child has been taught and has mastered.
  • Write reports for families and lead family conferences.
  • Lead the Elementary Guides. Plan with them, observe their lessons, and coach them.

You'll do well here if you are

  • Entrepreneurial. You focus on what's possible and find ways to make things happen.
  • Flexible. You change your approach when something isn't working.
  • Enthusiastic. You love learning and share it with children.
  • Patient and supportive. You stay calm and kind when children struggle.
  • Growth-minded. You believe every child can improve, and you keep improving your own teaching.
  • Professional and dependable. You're on time, prepared, and professional with students, families, and colleagues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or master's degree
  • At least 5 years of experience as a lead teacher
  • Montessori experience or certification is a plus
